Certified Programs Leader Designation: Discontinued
The mission of Target University is to further promote Best Practices in program administration, enhance the status of Program Business in the insurance industry and recognize the specialized skill sets of Program Specialists. The University was developed through the efforts of the TMPAA Board and a Committee of TMPAA members who served as advisors on course development.
The designation, Certified Programs Leader (CPL), was developed in 2012. Since then, over 200 designations have been awarded. This designation will continue to be awarded through October of 2024.
*** Access to the coursework and exams for this designation will be discontinued as of 9-13-2024.
The new designation: Program Business Professional (PBP)
However, to meet the growing demands of Program specific education, the TMPAA has partnered with The Institutes to further enhance the learning experience for program insurance professionals. Together, the new insurance designation, Program Business Professional (PBP) was created. This new designation was officially announced and released in May of 2024 at the Target Markets Mid-Year meeting.
The new PBP designation will encompass program-specific education that exists in Target University courses, as well as courses currently offered by The Institutes. This will allow members to use some of the courses taken for the Programs designation to cross over to other designations offered by The Institutes, like the CPCU. Additionally, individuals can use the courses in the new designation for Continuing Education (CE) credits.
